It gives me a certain sadistic pleasure to hear that Dil Bole Hadippa is a flop. I didn’t dare watch the movie having been through the ordeal of watching its trailer before the release. It wasn’t very promising.
I’ve never liked Rani much. Lately, for a few years, I’ve observed that Rani’s performance remained the same in each movie. The same smile, same style and the same far away look. Though her smile seems charming to me, I always view her as the current tragedy queen. Just looking at her (in the sad scenes) makes me feel immensely depressed.
Anyways, coming back to the Dil Bole Hadippa, I wonder how she thought her new toned body alone would create magic and help her to have the much needed blockbuster. The plot seemed (from what I could gather from reviews and friends) lousy – definitely not robust enough to rely on for a hit. And also I don’t approve of the pairing. Shahid??? Rani looks like an older sister to him. I really have trouble with imagining romantic scenes between them…
I actually dreaded that audiences might receive Dil Bole Hadippa with much warmth, if only by some miracle. And the fact that it isn’t case, made me sigh with relief.
This morning, as I read an article on Times of India about Rani’s doomed spirits and her recent complacency and arrogance behind the screen , I felt that she truly deserves this let down.
